Insight – in progress

The Nuremberg Studio Days for Applied Arts will take place for the 21st time in 2026. Under the title “Insight – in progress,” artists and designers will open their studios to the public at 22 locations from November 13 to 15, 2026. Together with selected guest artists, they will offer insight into current trends in applied art and showcase works that impress not only with their high level of craftsmanship and artistic quality but also with their experimental diversity. Works from the fields of jewelry and objects, ceramics, glass, textiles, and metal will be presented. Now that the Forum für Angewandte Kunst e.V. has handed over the organization of the event, it will be continued in the future by a team of artists who have participated for many years.

Coinciding with the Danner Prize Exhibition

This year, the Studio Days will take place during the opening week of the 2026 Danner Prize exhibition. The exhibition will be on view from November 13, 2026, through April 4, 2027, at the Neues Museum in Nuremberg. This gives visitors the special opportunity to see both the exhibition at the museum and the studios of Nuremberg’s artisans and artists.

On November 13 and 14, 2026, a shuttle bus sponsored by the Danner Foundation will connect the Studio Days with the Danner Prize exhibition, making it easy to visit the various venues. On both evenings, the design studio NEOOS invites visitors to the Alte Postscheckamt at Kesslerstraße 1 from 6 to 10 p.m., providing a space for encounters and exchange.

The internationally renowned Danner Foundation, founded in 1920 by Therese Danner, aims to highlight the significance and quality of contemporary arts and crafts. Its mission statement reads: “The uniqueness of works of applied art should be highlighted. The goal is to awaken in the public an appreciation for craftsmanship, to sharpen their eye for artistic vision and innovative design, and thereby to foster a growing appreciation for applied art.” The Nuremberg Studio Days for Applied Arts take up this mission and allow visitors to directly experience the close connection between conceptual ideas, artistic design, and craftsmanship. In doing so, they not only offer insight into the diverse work of the participating artists and designers but also make an important contribution to Nuremberg’s cultural identity and diversity.

The “Einblick – in progress” event is sponsored by the Danner Foundation, the City of Nuremberg (Department of Culture), and the Kost-Pocher Foundation. Information on the “Einblick – in progress” studio days in 2026 will be available starting in October in the form of a fold-out brochure. It will be available at the Tourist Information office at Hauptmarkt 18, at the participating studios, at the Neues Museum Nürnberg, and at other museums and cultural institutions in the city of Nuremberg, as well as at selected museums and cultural venues in the surrounding area. The fold-out brochure will also be available for download as a PDF starting in October on the website www.einblick-in-progress.info.
