The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg announced at the beginning of 2020 that the traditional MK&G fair would be taking a one-year break in preparation for a complete re-launch. For the first time, the Justus Brinckmann Gesellschaft e.V., which organizes the fair, has appointed a guest curator, Pascal Johanssen. The director of Direktorenhaus Berlin, Johanssen has many years of experience in the conception and realization of fairs for design and crafts.
From November 24 to 28, 2021, the new MK&G fair will present an exciting program – refreshed and international – with a clear focus on the north, but – thanks to current director Tulga Beyerle – also with a view far into the east and south.” Contemporary arts and crafts will have its forum here, as will collectible design and bold artistic-crafts positions, fair officials said.
Applications from March 29, 2021
Applications can be uploaded to www.mkgmesse.de from March 29 to May 10, 2021. Submissions are welcome from artisans in all disciplines, as well as from designers who design and produce their own series of works. A prerequisite for participation is the submission of new works that have not yet been shown publicly.
Further information from Hamburg: “The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg and its circle of friends, the Justus Brinckmann Gesellschaft, are and will remain a reliable partner for the arts and crafts in Germany. The traditional fair of the Justus Brinckmann Gesellschaft has been held at the MK&G since 1887. The oldest of its kind in Germany, it is inspired by passion for art and craft.”
