Jewelers‘Werk Galerie

Jewelers’Werk Galerie was founded in 1984 by Dutch artist-jeweler Joke von Ommen (originally VO Galerie) in Washington DC. The aim was, as is, to exhibit contemporary jewelry by international artists. The focus today is to exhibit international artist jewelers in a collection that is progressive and challenging incorporating a broad range of materials, ideas and concepts. Ellen Reiben, the director since 1988 has a jewelry background (MFA 1981) with an emphasis on non-precious materials, which is one reason she is drawn to alternative materials. Equally inspiring to her, is work in classic jewelry materials that stretches the boundaries and the mind.

At the “Handwerk&Design” , the Jewelers‘Werk Galerie presents the Fürimmerringe [Forever rings] by Bettina Dittlmann and Michael Jank.

Each ring is hand forged. Materials: gold, silver, copper, iron.

At Frame in Munich at the canceled International Trade Fair, IHM, Jewelers’Werk Galerie wanted to present “Foreverrings” by Bettina Dittlmann and Michael Jank. Since 1998, Dittlmann and Jank have forged rings in pure gold, silver, copper or iron that are formed solely with a punch and a hammer. The results are archaic, dense, textured and sculptural rings that indeed push the boundaries of concept and materials.
