Art Aurea Awards – Winners 2016

Kristiina Karinen (Germany/Finland), Barbara Nanning (Netherlands) and Joo Hyung Park (South Korea) are the main prize-winners of the 2016 Art Aurea Awards. The Popularity Prize went to Angela Hübel (Germany).

This year, a total of 21 designers/profiles have won an award. The competition serves to promote authentic workshops, de- signers, artists and manufactories, and was held for the second time in 2016. The jurors had to select the winners from 188 participants currently represented with a profile on Art Aurea’s internet platform. In contrast to other competitions, the Art Aurea Awards honor not only the design quality and originality of the works concerned, but also their relevance for the market. This is why most of the jurors are gallerists and experts on the market for artistically crafted objects and design. This year, they included Frederik Bollhorst, Freiburg, Bruna Hauert (Friends of Carlotta), Zurich, Isabella Hund, Munich, Eva Maisch, Würzburg, Anne Sloth (Puls Gallery), Brussels, Dr. Sabine Wilp (Handwerksform Hannover), and Reinhold Ludwig, Art Aurea. The Popularity Prize went to Angela Hübel. From 1 July 2015 to the end of June 2016, her profile on Art Aurea’s internet platform attracted the largest number of visitors, at 1,704. Placing behind her in terms of visitor interest were Ulla + Martin Kaufmann and Studio Drift (1,324 visitors each), Manu Schmuck (1,259), and Anna Sykora (1,127).
