Designgut 2015 – Swiss design fair for sustainable products

Designgut 2015 in Winterthur is all about sustainability

From October 29 to November 1 2015 Designgut, Swiss design fair for sustainable products, will take place in Winterthur. This year about 90 selected labels of Applied Arts,
among them 30 members of formforum Schweiz, will participate. The fair’s founder and manager Christina Müller talks about this year’s events, insider tips and her vision for the future.

ART AUREA Designgut will soon recur in Winterthur for the sixth time. What has changed since the first fair?
Christina Müller We’ve grown enormously and evolved into an established, well-known event in the world of design. We have more exhibitors, visitors and supporting partners.

AA What importance does the Gewerbemuseum have and what are you planning to do there?
CM With the museum as satellite, we not only have more space for exhibitors, but also a venue for fairs that’s similarly as attractive as our main site in venerable old Casinotheater. The two sites are just a few minutes’ walk apart. Together with the museum’s directors, we’re planning an interesting framework program this year.

AA Which exhibitors are among this year’s highlights?
CM The new Herr Urs company is one: a knitting man per se is already fantastic, and this one transforms Swiss-made yarns into cool, solid fashions for everyday wear. Yép is another young label: this brand’s beautiful comfortable shoes are manufactured for it by an Italian manufactory. Then there’s the Cloud8 jewelry label, which makes rings that look like household rubber bands, but are in fact made from recycled scrap gold: the sophisticated realization of a simple idea.
