“Our last things don’t necessarily have to be ordinary,” says Lydia Gastroph. With her w e i s s über den tod hinaus [w h i t e beyond death] company, she champions a contemporary mourning culture that she would also like to be part of a new lifestyle, because the coffins, urns and mourning jewelry designed by artists lend themselves to multiple uses in our daily lives. The coffins can be used as cabinets, benches or chests, and the urns as vases. At the same time, weiss also serves as a platform to promote public discussion about death, funeral design and mourning, providing the opportunity to contemplate these important issues within the framework of exhibitions, lectures and readings. As an artist and undertaker, Lydia Gastroph advises you with sensitivity about the many options for a personalized last farewell. Together with you, she organizes all the essentials so you can be sure the final ceremony will be a lovely and dignified event that’s appropriate for everyone involved.
