Longevity and simplicity constitute the guiding principles of Stefan Prattes’ work. His versatile furniture can be adapted to a wide variety of living environments, so its owners can take it with them whenever they move to a new home. The entire creative process takes place in Prattes’ own workshop, starting from initial drafts, CAD-aided design and model-making all the way through to the actual production of the pieces concerned. The trained architect mainly uses solid wood and metal to craft his pieces. Instead of sophisticated fittings, he uses traditional techniques to join his furniture’s individual elements. His pieces’ colors are the result of the materials they are made of. “In addition to applying stringent standards as regards the quality of my work, I also consider timeless designs as very important,” says Stefan Prattes.
