Noon Passama
The idea for Noon Passama’s Extra Button series of brooches is based on a mass-produced batch which conveys a particular message. Since 2008, this jewelry artist from Thailand has been experimenting with a variety of shapes and materials for this series, creating various types of buttons that symbolize different personalities. Later works have been developed in collaboration with the Capara fashion label for its Spring/ Summer 2012 collection entitled Favorite Dreams. Passama was inspired by, amongst others, artist Erwin Wurm. Using key words such as color, texture and detail as a starting point, she transformed classic basic shapes, combined the well-known with the unknown or united two contrasting characteristics in one piece of jewelry. The pieces’ shapes are enhanced by their surprising dimensions, thus attracting even more attention from the viewer.
