Massimo Micheluzzi’s diverse oeuvre is also formatively inspired by the beauty of his native city: Venice. The many different moods of his legendary murrina vessels recall the atmospheres of the city by the lagoon, the grey of its sometimes cloudy sky or the silvery luster of its waterways. “I simply wanted to use a static material to convey a feeling of motion, as in a painting by Canaletto,” explains Micheluzzi, who numbers among the few remaining glass artists from Murano who have mastered the murrina technique. Likewise unique are his battuto glasses, which recall hammered silver. Numerous collections include pieces by Micheluzzi. Prices range from 1500 to 5000 euros.
