Felicia Mülbaier
Felicia Mülbaier’s jewelry is animated by an exciting ambivalence between the archaic and the future-oriented. One could almost say that she “paints” with gemstones. She convincingly reinterprets the theme of “the stone in jewelry” with ease and bravura. This is how the jury of the Justus Brinckmann Gesellschaft in Hamburg 2019 justified its conferral of the prize on the artist Julia Wild, who describes her works as follows: “Carved from the stone, they are found objects of something immaterial. They preserve the traces of the time it takes to give form to something previously incomprehensible. In this time, there is a moment between existence and non-existence. And this moment calls for a decision to destroy or to preserve, to conceal something or reveal it.”
