Sarah Cossham is fascinated by the idea of setting gemstones in liquid gold. For her jewelry series, she sometimes uses stones salvaged from old pieces jewelry to create lively and unique newly designed pieces that preserve magic from long bygone times. She crocheted her “Zeitzeugen” [Contemporary Witnesses] from medical gloves and silver during long periods of rest while recovering from cancer, which cost this goldsmith and artist a leg. She designed the “Darm” [Intestine] series, which is filled with masses of sugar, at her workshop in Munich’s abattoir district. This versatile artist also creates vessels from various alloys and set with stones. All her pieces embody time made visible and are the result of meditation.
