Bosna Quilt Werkstatt
Rooted in the formal language of 20th century modernism, Bosna Quilts simultaneously also bear witness to fruitful collaboration between women from different worlds. The painter Lucia Lienhard-Giesinger founded the workshop during the Bosnian War in 1993. The first quilts were created at the Galina home for refugees in Vorarlberg, Austria. After the refugee women returned to their homeland in 1998, the cooperation continued from afar. Lucia Lienhard-Giesinger designs the unique textiles in Bregenz on Lake Constance. Eleven women sew them according to their own ideas in Gorazde and Sarajevo. Textile art transcends national borders.
