Pott: Design Awards 2017

A competition for cutlery and table accessories, sponsored by Hannspeter Pott and hosted by the Deutsches Klingenmuseum (German Blade Museum) in Solingen

The Pott: Design Awards 2017 have been initiated by Hannspeter Pott, grandson of the C. Hugo Pott Company’s founder, as a tribute to the design and innovation achievements of his grandfather Carl Hugo and his father Carl Pott. Designing cutlery and table accessories, the Solingen-based cutlery manufacturer C. Hugo Pott created modern classics and won numerous international accolades. The Pott: Design Awards will be conferred in two categories: the Pott: Senior Award with a prize money of 8,000 euros, and the Pott: Junior Award, which includes three prizes worth 1,000 euros each. The prize-winning creations will be incorporated in the collections of the German Blade Museum at Solingen, which will also showcase the entries for the competition in an exhibition in October 2017.

Participation in the competition for the Pott: Senior Award is limited to those invited: designers, metalwork designers and silversmiths who have created table accessories of outstanding quality in the past few years. Their entries should not be older than ten years. The competition for the Pott: Junior Award is not restricted, and targeted in particular at young designers and design studios, plus students at design colleges and universities. Their entries should not be older than three years. The creations in both categories are expected to reflect new design ideas for classic cutlery.
