The name of Petra Hilpert’s “soprana design” label refers to her eponymous graduation thesis, in which she explored the aesthetics and combination of various materials. In line with the Italian term sopra (above) and the high-pitch female singing voice, soprano, porcelain takes center stage in her creations, complemented by other materials, such as glass, stainless steel, wood, silicone or even felt. “With my pieces, I want to add a new flair to our dining culture,” this designer says. The minimalist designs of her “dishi” and “dishi_glass” vessels have won awards in the design plus and FORM competitions, and have been nominated for the German Design Award 2016.
