Brigitte Adolph’s elaborately crafted pieces look like delicate lace. What seems to be fine-spun fabric, however, is in fact pure precious metal – this graduate designer likes to play with optical illusions. Although inspired by the past, her rings, brooches, pendants and earrings are nevertheless characterized by an authentic, contemporary formal idiom. In 2007 Brigitte Adolph was honored with the coveted Red Dot Design Award for her Loop pearl necklace. The Nottingham Heritage Collection was created after working with the English lacemaker Jayne Childs as part of the Creative Twinning project. Nottingham was the center of mechanized lace manufacturing in the 19th and 20th centuries. Brigitte Adolph’s motifs are inspired by traditional Nottingham designs from the Art Nouveau era.
