Dorothea Brill’s jewelry creations are based on an inner structure that unfolds outwards. Although these pieces may hint at narratives, they nonetheless leave the wearer plenty of latitude for free association. Her “Meter-weise,” “Nähen” and “Propeller” jewelry families combine naturalness and clarity, lightness and depth, feeling and concept. In recent years, this designer has primarily evolved her “Meter-weise” series, which is convincing thanks to the play of tiny eyelets that shimmer like trickling sand in ever-new shapes. Dorothea Brill masterfully uses movement and softness to model a vocabulary of forms that makes adorning oneself into a self-explanatory and pleasant experience. “The liveliness is what makes jewelry shine,” she says.
