Claudia Hoppe / Jewelry

Claudia Hoppe

1972 Born in Kiel, Germany
1996–2002 University of Applied Sciences, Düsseldorf, and Escola Massana, Barcelona, after a goldsmithing apprenticeship
2002 Founded her own atelier in Düsseldorf

Clear-cut shapes in gold, silver, colored plastic or lacquered steel are characteristic of Claudia Hoppe’s jewelry for the arms. Round or square pieces with colored surfaces arouse our play instinct, while the Kombi bangles, concave gold or silver bangles that can be interleaved as desired, remind us of the jewelry of aboriginal cultures. In 2008 Claudia Hoppe created sleek bangles with an integrated clasp. Lacquered on the inside with vivid colors, they discreetly project their color onto the wearer’s skin. Twice already she has been honored with inhorgenta europe’s Innovation Award for outstanding achievement in contemporary jewelry design, and her square Kubus bangle, featuring spacious flat surfaces, was incorporated in the collection of the Niessing company.
