Tanja Hartmann

1971 Born in Wesel, Germany
1993–1997 Trained as a goldsmith
1997–2004 Studied jewelry and product design at the University of Applied Sciences, Düsseldorf
Since 2000 Has been working as a freelance jewelry designer
2007 Opened her “Schmuckwerkstatt” atelier and gallery in Wesel

Armed with a confectioner’s pastry bag filled with creamy white, caramel-colored or even licorice-black silicone, jewelry designer Tanja Hartmann creates pieces of jewelry that are as appetizing as a pastry chef’s creations. Some of these “gourmet” rings, bangles and earrings are additionally adorned with colored gemstones and pearls. Such a breach with tradition confuses the beholder, encourages communication and provides food for discussion. The most delectable feature of these pieces is their ability to stimulate both our optical and gustative nerves while brightening our mood at the same time. Stimulated by these feasts for the eyes, grown-ups can once again savor the sweet taste of childhood on their tongue and indulge in the natural desire for delightful consumption.
